After many months of hard training a number of club members joined 50,000 other runners at the London marathon at the weekend .There were big PB performances from a number of athletes and solid performances from others. Our  only  lady to compete was Hannah Terrance who smashed her PB by close to 5mins when breaking through the 3hour with a fantastic time of 2hrs 54.58. Fred Davies was first home from the club in a time of 2hrs 26.33 and placed in the top 5 in the Scottish Championships which was run within the race. We also think Hannah was in the top 5  but waiting for confirmation. Scott McKelvie also secure a PB by over  a minute when running  2.39.51

Shettleston Runners Times : Fred Davies 2.26.33, Scott McKelvie 2.39.51, Cameron Sharp 2.51.39

Hannah Terrance  2.54.58, Duncan McCauley 3.11.51, Jamie Platts 3.37.36, Richard Millar 4.30.24

It was a disappointing day for Weyany Ghebresilasie when his Olympic  dream disappeared the night before the start. Traveling from his training base he pick up a chest infection. Awake for most of the night  he did make it to the start but dropped out a very disappointed athlete. Speaking to him later in the afternoon of the race you could hear the disappointment in his voice after months of hard training . We are sure he will bounce back.

On a marathon theme congratulations to Andrew Bryson who we missed out of the Manchester marathon results when he also  ran a PB of 2.55.24. You are never too late to start running and Jamie Burns’ mum ,Jennifer, also ticked off  a bucket list event when she also completed Manchester in 5hrs 18.02.

Zoe Roberts, U13, was also busy last weekend when running two events at Wimbledon, London, 200m 28.77PB and 800m 2.31.56PB
