With cross country taking a momentary pause, it was time for our young athletes to shine at the first Scottish Indoor League Match (SAIL) of the year at the Emirates Arena!
This match marked a significant change as it officially introduced the World Athletics Age Groups (U12, U14, U16, U18) in Scotland, replacing the old U13, U15, U17, and U20 categories. This exciting shift means a host of new club records will be set in the coming weeks and years. Importantly, all current records in the old age groups will remain forever—a testament to the history of our great club!
SAIL Match 1: Record-Breaking Start
It was a truly fantastic start to the indoor season, with Shettleston athletes demonstrating incredible potential. Across the morning and afternoon sessions, which involved close to 50 clubs, our Harriers secured:
- 18 Personal Best (PB) Performances
 - 10 Heat Winners
 - 3 Pool Winners
 - And, of course, a host of new club records in the fresh age categories!

The league is contested over three matches, with the top clubs invited to a final in 2026. We are currently in a strong position, especially following a brilliant morning session.

A Call for Coaches and Officials
These exceptional performances are a direct result of the dedication and hard work put in by all our coaches and team managers. A huge thank you to them for the countless hours they volunteer!
We also rely on our officials to ensure our athletes can compete, so a massive thank you goes out to them as well.
If you are interested in giving back to the club and increasing our numbers in these vital roles, we encourage you to get involved. The club pays for all coaching and officials courses coming up over the winter. Please contact our Development Officer, Matt Byers, at development@shettlestonharriers.org.uk for more information.
