Dear Members,

Commonwealth Games Scotland has invited Shettleston Harriers to provide teams of Kit Carriers for the athletics programme. This is an exciting opportunity for our club to be represented at one of the world’s biggest sporting events.

We are looking to provide two teams of 9 young people (aged 14 – 17), with each team supported by 2 chaperones (aged 18+).

Eligibility and Requirements:

  • Young volunteers (Kit Carriers) must be aged 14 or over on 1st April this year
  • Chaperones must be aged 18 or over- We would like this opportunity to go to our aspiring younger athletes
  • A mandatory training session will take place at Scotstoun Stadium (date TBC)
  • Chaperones will require a PVG check (if not already held)

This is a fantastic opportunity for our younger athletes to represent Scotland, the City of Glasgow, and Shettleston Harriers, while gaining valuable experience and supporting elite athletes.

How to Apply:
If your child would like to be considered as a Kit Carrier, or if you wish to volunteer as a chaperone, please email:

Please use the subject line: Shettleston Harriers Kit Carrier Application and include a short note outlining why you (or your child) would like to be involved, no later than 8 am on Friday, the 1st of May

Please Note:

  • There are a maximum of 18 places available for young athletes and 4 for chaperones (please note that this may be subject to change)
  • All applications will be reviewed and selections made accordingly
  • Only active members, up to date with membership payments, will be considered
  • Preference will be given to young athletes who attend training regularly

We encourage all eligible members to take advantage of this unique opportunity.

Kind regards,
Shettleston Harriers
