It was a brilliant weekend for Shettleston Harriers, with a fantastic team effort at Grangemouth securing our Division 1 status, and several athletes delivering outstanding performances in Newcastle, Manchester, and Birmingham!

CSSAL Final at Grangemouth

A huge well done to all the athletes, coaches, parents, and club officials who made a massive effort at Grangemouth on Sunday. Thanks to their hard work, we finished 2nd in the final match and successfully maintained our Division 1 CSSAL status by finishing 5th in the league overall!

Every athlete rose to the occasion across all age groups to make this possible.

  • Match Position: 2nd overall (741 points)
  • Final League Position: 5th overall (12 points)

Quayside 5km & BMC Grand Prix

Shettleston Harriers were on fire across the country, with some excellent performances.

  • Brogan Wallace continued her great form by winning the women’s event at the Quayside 5km in Newcastle on August 6th, clocking an incredible 15:56. This is one of the fastest times run by a Scottish lady this year and is a perfect tune-up for her international event in Ireland later this month.
  • Luke Howard also ran at Newcastle, finishing 8th with a time of 14:45, showing a great step back in the right direction.
  • Two athletes travelled to Manchester for the BMC Grand Prix:
    • Philip Neilson was rewarded with a new PB of 14:50.83 over 5000m.
    • Daniel Bradford recorded a season’s best of 3:52.70 in the 1500m.
  • Zoe Roberts was in Birmingham for the English U/15 Championships, where she recorded a new PB of 42.56 seconds in the 300m.

  • Caddemuir Rollercoaster 3k Hill Run:
    • Rio Biddicombe: 3rd place in the U13M category (13:33)
    • Euan Grant-Pantrey: 5th place in the U15M (14:32)
    • Rowan Lennox: 6th place in the U13F (15:50)
  • Bill Elder 10km in Greenock:
    • Mark McColl: 6th M40 (39:37)
    • Bob Porteous: 3rd M70 (58:07)
