Club athletes had the honour to be part of one of the best running events in the World on Thursday evening. We are very grateful to our friends in Armagh AC in Ireland for inviting the club to be part of the International Series of Races. The event is a bucket list race for all athletes and we know our club athletes are grateful for the support Alastair Blamire Grant and the club for allowing them to be part of such an event.

Two athletes from our strong 14 group had the honour of wearing Scotland vests for the event – Jamie Burns and Lynn McKenna who both helped Scotland finish 2nd in the team events .With the National Cross  -Country Championships only a week away name it was solid runs from all our athletes helping the men’s team finish 4th and the ladies 5th in a high quality event .

Parkruns back up and running

After the cancellation due to Storm Eowyn the previous weekend normal service resumed this weekend.
Cameron Muir managed an impressive course record at Dean Castle Country Parkrun, Kilmarnock in 16:20.
David Lawson was also first finisher at Queen’s Parkrun in 17:20. John Connaghan was 6th in 20:04 which meant he come away with highest age grade percentage.
Grant Boyne made it three first finishers with 17:34 up north in Elgin.
Young athlete, Rio Biddlecombe stormed around the undulating Palacerigg for his highest ever Parkrun finish position where 20:54 brought him home in 2nd. Rowan Lennox managed 23:33 for first female and Jethro Lennox 23:34. John Duffy provided a dual role of Marshall and supporter for the youngsters.
Other young athletes in action were Rebecca and Ellie Ryan completing Penrith Parkrun in 29:25 and 31:48.
Kevin Alston was not too far away at Ury Riverside in Aberdeenshire coming in 13th in 22:43.
Finally Philip Neilson was enjoying the sights of Edinburgh and having a recovery run from Armagh with 22:56 at Holyrood. Great example that Parkrun is a run not a race.
