The Ladies escaped the worst of the weather when they travelled to Liverpool to contest the European Club Trial. The heavy snow caused the cancellation of the Lanarkshire AAA Relays and a host of Parkruns and other events throughout Scotland. After contesting the European Club Championships in the previous two years in Spain and Portugal hopes were high they could make it three in a  row. Unfortunately after finishing 3rd team and the only the first two selected it was not the case this year. Well done to the ladies who made the trip to Liverpool  and it may have not been snow but the picture will show you it was very muddy! Lynn McKenna was also  selected for Scotland  and finished 2nd  Scot.

Ladies results

Teams : 1st Belgrave Harriers (London) 103, 2nd Aldershot Farnham & District AC 116,

3rd Shettleston Harriers 180

Positions : Lynn McKenna 16th, Hannah Terrance 50th, Avril Mason 56th, Ruth Joss 58th

Suzi Blake 70th

Emily Carroll also  ran but for her English club, Thames Valley Harriers, 4th Scot overall in

34th position.

Two men also  made the trip to Liverpool – Taha Ghafari and Joe Barton .

It was a bit of a disaster  for Taha when a mixed up with his entry  meant he had to run without a number and does not appear in the official results- We believe he finished around 45th, In early December Taha will travel to Antalya to compete in the European Cross Country Championships for the European Refugee Team. New member, Joe Barton, finished 95th just in front of Ben Johnson (Southport) who spent a number of years with the club.

Congratulations to Lidya Woldeselassie who received the Disability Achievement Award at ClubSport Glasgow Awards Evening on Friday in the City Chambers. Great achievement for this young lady who has represented Scotland at the Commonwealth Youth Games and is currently part of Scottish Athletics Youth Forum.
