Scottish Schools Championships:
With the school year drawing to a close, the Scottish Schools Championships returned to Grangemouth, providing a final showcase for our talented young athletes. While collecting results from other country and district school sports has proven challenging over recent weeks, we were thrilled to see numerous successes across the age groups at this championship event!
Here are some of the standout results:
Group A (Over 16):
- Annie McLean: A superb run to clinch 1st place in the 400m with a time of 56.10!
- Jonathan Hooper: Dominant in the long jump, taking 1st place with 6.57m (wind +0.6). He also competed in the 100m, finishing 6th in 11.76 (wind -2.8).
- Chloe Fox: A strong performance in the Javelin, securing 4th place with 23.94m.
Group B (15-16 years old):
- Abraham Lanahan: An impressive double podium finish, taking 1st place in the Triple Jump with 13.26m (wind -0.9) and 2nd place in the Long Jump with 6.25m (wind +2.5)!
- Estelle Giraud: Achieved a personal best in the Shot Put, finishing 8th with 9.57m.

Group C (Under 15):

- Joseph Lanahan: Secured 1st place in the Long Jump with 6.34m (wind -0.7) and finished 5th in the 100m with 12.01 (wind -0.8).
- Zoe Roberts: Ran a fantastic 800m to finish 4th in 2:17.76, and also competed in the Long Jump, placing 8th with 4.27m (wind -1.0).
Shettleston Harriers Parkrun Round-Up – Saturday, June 7th, 2025
Saturday’s weather was certainly showery in Glasgow and possibly elsewhere. Some Parkruns would have been hit, at least temporarily, with some inclement weather. Here is a roundup of Parkruns attended by Shettleston Harriers runners:
Cuningar Loop: Gerard Pelegri took 5th place in 18:03, followed by Jack Yang, who finished in 6th spot with a time of 19:30. Raymond Loughran came in with a time of 29:50, which was 141st place. It was another busy Parkrun at Cuningar Loop, with 238 runners participating.
Tollcross: Lee Mitchell finished 7th with a time of 21:48 and Joanne Harkins had a time of 29:41, finishing 32nd at a soggy Tollcross Parkrun.
Pollok: Cameron Muir topped the charts at Pollok, achieving an excellent time of 16:37 for a well-deserved 1st place finish!
Strathclyde: Oliver Allen achieved a time of 22:39 and 70th position, whilst Gillian McMillan clocked 33:14 and 118th position, at a busy event with 326 participants.
Victoria: Denis Williams had a great time of 19:42 and 33rd position at the ever-busy Victoria Parkrun.
Falkirk: A great run by Michael Paxton led to a superb 1st place finish with a time of 17:50 in Callendar Park.
Holyrood: A trip to the capital city saw Toby Hession achieve an impressive 8th place finish, clocking a time of 19:14.
Palacerigg: John Duffy was an impressive 3rd with a time of 20:52 at the challenging Palacerigg course.
Dean Castle Country Park: Rebecca Ryan achieved 26:36 and 27th position and Ellie Ryan came in with a time of 30:52 and 49th place at Dean Castle in Ayrshire.

Turnhouse: Four bold Shetts made their mark in another sea of red at the 8th round of the Bog & Burn series! Zoë secured a fantastic 🥈2nd place, with future star Aedan finishing 13th, Jethro 24th, and Tara 9th. And Ryad is brilliantly retaining his overall lead after 8 races – a true 👑 king of the series!
British Intercounties: Dan, Ryad, Elena, and Gemma stepped up to represent West of Scotland with excellent performances in a stacked and ferociously fast race! Dan finished 10th, Elena 20th, Ryad 32nd, and Gemma 40th. 🔥

Glen Rosa: A cracking outing for Ross Crawford in this newly revived classic! ❤️
Traprain Law: Harry and Tara were spotted falling in streams over in the East – sounds like a classic hill race adventure! 💧
Parkrun: A rapid new Course Record (16:12) for Fredex at Queens Park, rightly taking the record off Carnethy. 👑 Fantastic running!
Cornalees: Our Juniors were in action again, with Rio taking the 🥇 win in the U13s, and another cracking run from Euan, finishing 4th in the U15s.
SHR Championships: Great news for the Shettleston Harriers Hill Running (SHR) Championships! Our Women’s team is currently sitting in 🥇 1st place, and our Men’s team is joint 🥇 1st! Don’t forget, Glenshee 9 entries open this Wednesday – get them in to help keep those team positions!
