National Young Athletes Road Races – Greenock

We may have moved into Spring but it certainly was not a Spring day at Greenock. Strong winds and heavy rain made for very difficult racing conditions in the National Young Athletes Road Races.

Pride of place goes to our U/13 boys who picked up the bronze team medal, making up for the disappointment of finishing 4th in the recent National Cross Country Championships.

For all of our U/13 girls this was their first ever race for the club, and what a day they experienced running in such awful conditions. They combined well to finish 12th in the team event.

Two U/15 girls started with Charlotte finishing 28th and Summer McCallum supporting her in 62nd.

With two of our U/17 athletes Emma Lockie and Sam McGowan also running, this completed our winter for our young athletes. Many thanks to all coaches, parents and officials who have supported them during the winter.

Inverclyde AC put on support races for U/11 and we had three boys taking part – Henoch Woldeselassie, Joseph Paterson and Aron Murray who also enjoyed the Arctic conditions.
