The action does not stop for the club with our athletes competing in England ,Scotland and Ireland over the weekend .
Moving to England first, congratulations to Lidya Woldeleselassie who celebrated her call up to the Scotland Team with a PB performance over 100m in the Manchester International .Her time of 18.65(-1.21W) over 100m for this T35/F35 athlete places her high in the rankings .Jer club mate Godwin Imante was also competing for Scotland and posted a Season best over 200m into a strong wind -22.07(-1.7W).Well done to these two young athletes. Lidya will join Katie Woods and Annie Mclean at the School Games in Loughborough next weekend where all three have been selected for Scotland.
Moving to Ireland we had three athletes competing in Condor Executive Antrim Costal ½ Marathon .A new name to many members will be Kidane Tadesse who recorded a time of 65.06 to move to 2nd in the Scottish rankings this year. He is a former Eritrean athlete who can boast PB’s of 13.13 (5000m) ,27.06 (10000M) and 61.06 (1/2 marathon ).Kidane has just started running again after a number of years out of the sport and the club is delighted to welcome him. Fred Davies has been a busy man this summer helping the club excel over the hills but turned back to the roads in Ireland just missing his PB by a few seconds when he ran 69.22.From all accounts the weather in Antrim was very similar to Glasgow over the weekend so this shows his preparation for the Berlin Marathon are going well. Irish international athlete ,Fionnuala Ross, finished in an excellent time of 74.16 to complete the trio of Shettleston athletes in Ireland.
Saturday Evening a number of the club members travelled to Stirling to compete in the Monument Mile Races. This event organised by Michael Wright and Central AC is one of the best events of the year and had a truly international feel to it. We have a busy couple of weeks ahead with our two Open graded meetings the next two Tuesday nights and the LAAA Championships at Crownpoint on the 8th September (Sunday). The club pays for this and it is a great opportunity to test your yourself -Please let your coach know ASAP if you want to compete.
