The club is delighted to share the profile of one of the stars of one of the all-conquering Shettleston Team of the early 1970’s. Alistair Blamire will not be a name too familiar to many current members but as you can see from his profile written by his good friend, Colin Youngson, he was a great athlete over all surfaces. See the article here . He has been recently in touch with the club and has made a large donation to help young athletes and in particular middle and long distance athletes. He was particular interested in supporting these athletes to travel to races to help in their development. The club is grateful to Alistair for this kind gesture and we are sure the athletes will be greatly helped with this support.
Congratulations to our two master’s athletes who made the long journey to Aberdeen to compete in Scottish Masters Cross Country Championships. John Oates, continued his recent good form claiming the bronze medal in the M60 age group and Walter Henderson finished 10th in the M50 age group.
The British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) Cross Country Championships at Horsenden Hill in Middlesex saw Jamie Burns finish 35th in a field 235 runners in 10km race.
