Club Sports Glasgow Awards: Celebrating Excellence

The Glasgow City Chambers Grand Hall was the impressive venue for the Club Sports Glasgow Awards for 2025, where Shettleston Harriers was proudly represented by a host of ladies who have been instrumental in the club’s development.

The event held special significance as it highlighted the success of our female members over the 21 years since the ladies’ section was formally re-admitted in 2004. Historically, the club was a trailblazer, having one of the first ladies’ sections in the 1930s, which even secured the first National Cross Country title in 1930 (an 8 x 1-mile race). It is incredibly fitting that in our centenary year, the ladies have become such a successful and integral part of the Harriers.

Inspiring Female in Sport

We extend huge congratulations to Lynn McKenna, who was recognised by Club Sport Glasgow and awarded the “Inspiring Female in Sport” for 2025. This is in recognition of her incredible achievement earlier this year when she became the first senior lady to win the National Cross Country title at Falkirk.

Coach of the Year Shortlist

Further good news was received regarding Lynn’s coach, John Montgomery, who has been shortlisted for Coach of the Year by Glasgow Life Sport. The winner will be announced on the 1st of December, and the club wishes him the very best of luck!
