Young Athletes Presentation Night, Road Race Championships, Field, Road & Hill Action, Grand Prix placings

Friday night was a celebration of about everything which is good about the club when we held our 2025 Young Athletes Presentation Awards. The venue in Dennistoun was ideal and was attended by parents /athletes /coaches and board members. Thank you to anyone who was involved in the organisation of the event.

What was impressive was the number of awards handed to out numerous individuals  and the number of club records which were broken last year. The indoor track season has seen a number of these already improved and look forward to this track season which sees  the club is in a good position.

As many of us know our PBDO ,Alex Mackay, is retiring from the club and his position at the end of March. His contribution to the club was recognised during the presentation and was meet with a warm applause. Alex was unable to attend but a presentation on behalf of the club will be arranged at a later date. His replacement, Matthew Byers, has been appointed and is due to start on the 7^th April. Matthew is excited to take up his new post and will try to meet as many people over the coming months .

There was no rest for a number of athletes /coaches and officials from the club when they travel to East Fortune Race Track, North Berwick, on Saturday for the Scottish Young Athletes Road Race Championships .

Closer to home Louise Clifford was competing at Crownpoint in Scottish Throws Grand Prix and was rewarded with a PB of 19.71 in the U/15 Girl Javelin 

With the Hill season about to start Ceana Heron was the lone Shettleston athlete in the  Chapelgill Hill Race when she finished 2^nd Lady in this event near Glenholm ,Broughton.

Congratulations to Gerry Pelegri who returned home to Barcelona to record a PB over the marathon distance in a time 2hrs52.43.

Meanwhile at Alloa 1/2 Marathon again club athletes were showing what a good winter training can do!
