The final National Championships of the Young athletes Road /Cross country season took place on Saturday at East Fortune Race Circuit  just South of Edinburgh with the Young Athletes Road Championships. It has been a long season starting back in October and the track season will start in April, a lot of individuals have been involved in getting our athletes to the races and we would like to thank all the coaches ,parents  and officials who make this possible.

The races at East Fortune ranged from U/13 to U/17 over various distances. Katie Woods confirmed her great form when making another top 10 finish at a National Championships when she finished 9th in the U/15 age group.

Other Results : U/13 Girls Mhairi Stephen 25th; U/13 Boys Lucas Millican 45th 

U/15 Girls Katie Woods 9th, Ava Millican 54th, Kate Monaghan 54th   6th team 

U/15 Boys  Matthew Fox 38th ; U/17 Men Adam Clifford 31st, Joseph Reilly 37th 

Congratulations to Zoe Barber who was first female (12th overall) in the Chapelgill Hill Race on Saturday 

The West District 10 Miles Championships took place over a new course in Clydebank on Sunday. After many years of the Balloch to Clydebank ½ marathon taking placing the DAAA have replaced this historic race with a new 10mile course due to police pressure. By all accounts from the Shettleston athletes who ran the new course it was a fantastic race and sure to build up over the years .

Our athletes achieved a number of success and PB performances over the course 

Congratulations to Kirsty Mann who received her first West District medal placing 1st in her age group in a time of 66.58. Her club mate, Kirsten Vieira Da Luz, finished 7th in a time of 75.11.

Thomas Owens made the trip back to the central belt after spending most of the year in the Fort William area to pick up the M40 title in a time of 54.07 with Paul Sorrie finishing 3rd in the age group in 56.07. Fergus Donnelly continued his preparations for his first marathon finishing 14th overall in a time 55.35

In a busy weekend for the club two Shettleston Harriers ran in the Jack Crawford 10km organised by Springburn Harriers. Denis Williams won the M60 age group in a time of 40.45 in 22nd place and Joe Haughey 56th in 46.14

Firstly it was over to the Pollok Parkrun where Andrew Shields ran a time of 30.18.

Now to the East Coast at Edinburgh, Peter Avent continues his improvement from injury with first place and a time of 15.44.

Michael Paxton ran the Falkirk Parkrun in a time of 17.13 for second place.

At the Tollcross Parkrun John Duffy ran 20.18 for 7th position followed by David Murphy in a time of 22.58.

At the Victoria Parkrun, Denis Williams finished in 5th place in 19.18.

At Drumpellier Parkrun, Paul Mcguigan finished in 7th place in 21.44.

At the Queens Parkrun Bill Breckenridge finished in 23.44 and Susan Breckenridge in a time of 26.57.

Finally at the Elder parkrun, Ruth Joss finished in 18.20 for a course PB and 3rd place.
