This year’s Scottish Hill Running Championships has been a long campaign. The series of 6 races kicked off back in April at Clachnaben in Deeside and came to a close last weekend in the borders at the Yetholm Shepherds Show. While this hasn’t been a vintage year for the club on the hills with Carnethy able to dominate the team prizes it was great to see many new members out racing.
9 Shetts, 8 men and 1 woman, managed to complete the minimum requirement of 4 races and receive a coveted SHR mug. 2 stalwarts of the club in the hills, Ross Cruikshanks and Iain Pender finished all 6!
Congratulations to everybody who competed at least 1 race.
Dan Dry was top performing Shett in 6th place in the senior mens category and Myrtle Breckenridge, the only female to complete enough races, finished in 7th place overall. Congratulations to both athletes.Other notable results were a 4th place for Walter Henderson in the Vet 50s and 4th place for Bill Breckenridge in the Vet 55s.
Findlay Wild(Lochaber AC) and Caroline Marwick (Highland Hill Runners) were this years Champions. In a possible first, Findlay was also crowned British Champion.
