Fergus Donnelly claimed in his first win in an open race when he won the Arrochar 10km nearly 4 minutes clear of the next finishers. He just missed his PB again on a hilly course when he ran 36.01.
The Linlithgow 10km race has been a happy hunting ground for Paul Sorrie in his younger days winning it 8 times .Just off the plane from a holiday he travelled east to finish 15th overall in a time of 37.07. John Owens also returned to the racing finishing 354 in a time of 1.01.26 in a field of over 1000.
The world record for the marathon was broken by the fabulous Eliud Kipchoge in Berlin in a time of 2.01.09.He was not alone in setting a PB when our Fred Davis took 5minutes off his PB. His time of 2.32.16 included a negative split and a finish of 195th in a field of over 10000 runners.

Park Runs – Personal and season best bests ahead of the cross country season.
Firstly it was over to the Strathclyde Parkrun where Kirsty Mann who took first woman and a huge chunk off her 5k time in 19.32. The Strathclyde course can be tough on a windy day but this weekend the conditions were perfect.
At Greenock Parkrun Mark McColl hoping for a seasonal best struggled but held on for 4th place.
At Tollcross Parkrun Adam Clifford was rewarded with a 5th place with David Murphy in 13th.
There was some great performances at the Springburn Parkrun with Matthew Fox in 5th place in 18.18 and Katie Woods continues improving with 1st lady in 18.52. Matthew and Katie attend club training and the results show what is possible with dedication and hard work.
Another first place for Fergus Donnelly in 16.52 at the Agnew Parkrun. Fergus is also a regular at club training and looks forward to a good cross country season.
Over to the Elder Parkrun which is a new and popular parkrun course promising fast times . Ruth Joss took First Lady in 19.02.
Finally, a new Parkrun has been launched at Palacerigg Country Park near Cumbernauld. This was perfect for local John Duffy who took 3rd male.

The first week of October sees a return to Glasgow Green on Mondays & Thursday .Tuesday nights will also see the return of the popular Hill sessions at the Cathedral. More details to follow.
The first cross country race of the season will be in Glasgow at Kings Park on the 9th October /The club has entered 17 teams across the age groups.
Next weekend see the Great run events return to Glasgow and the London Marathon – we have lots of athletes set to the toe line in these events
