Taha Ghafari competed at the World Cross Country Championships in Australia helping the refugee Olympic Team to finish 15th in the mixed relay. The last time the club had an athlete competing in these championships was 1997when Chris Robinson competed in Marrakesh, Morrocco.

Teddy Tchoudja made the trip to Birmingham for the UK Athletics Indoor Championships with coach John Scott and came away with a 5th place in the senior women’s Indoor Shot Putt with a putt of 14.11m

Meanwhile it was the 4J Studios scottishathletics National Indoor U13, U15 &U20 Championships at the Emirates Arena over the weekend.

On Saturday the star performer was Godwin Imante who went faster in every round of the 60m recording a PB of 6.96 when claiming the Gold medal in the Under 20 race. This time moves Godwin into the top 20 in the UK and joint first in Scotland this year

He was joined by a number of other Shettleston athletes over 60m and other events showing the good work being done by coaches Gordon Bury, Carson Graham, Andrew Millican, Elaine Mackay, John Owens , Matthew Lyness, John Scott and Tom Harrison is paying off

Sunday saw the 2nd day of the Age Championship with the completion of the Under 20 programme and the Under 13 getting their chance on the track and field.

Godwin Imante completed a busy weekend when broke 22secs for the first time twice getting to the final of the Under 20 200m where he finished 2nd in a time of 21.78 which was a Commonwealth Games Youth Qualifying Time and now 8th in club all time. In the Under 13 High Jump saw Joseph Lanahan winning the silver medal with a jump of 1.31

This with a host of PB performances it was a successful weekend for the club

Amit Kumar recently competed as a guest in the Scottish Students Indoor Championships equalling his PB jumping 1.94 in the High Jump

Parkruns : Wins for Fergus and Katie plus improvements all round for Shettleston Parkrunners

There was a closely fought battle between Scott Mckelvie 3rd in 17.25 and Matthew Fox 17.28, Gerard Pelegri not to be outdone was top 10 in 18.48 at Tollcross parkrun with David Murphy 14th in 24.05.

Katie Woods ran close to her personal best at Springburn Parkrun in 5th place overall and 1st lady in 18.55. Paul Mcguigan finished in 22.12.

At Drumchapel Parkrun, Mark Mccoll finished 3rd in a time of 21.36.

At Drumpellier Parkrun, Jodie Waite finished in a time of 37.23.

At the Ury Riverside Parkrun, Kevin Alston was 8th in 20.27.

Over to Stranraer, at the Agnew Parkrun where Fergus Donnelly came 1st in a time of 16.59, incorporating his long run.

Finally at the Elder Parkrun, Andrew Taylor gave it another go to get a win but once again had to settle for 2nd place in a respectable time of 17.06.
