Congratulations to our Senior Ladies team who secured the Gold Medal at the West District Cross Country Relays at Kings Park (Glasgow) on Saturday. What a way to celebrate Scottish Women & Girls in sports week! This comes after Fionnuala Ross won the Scottish 1/2 marathon title last weekend, leading the ladies to the team gold at Great Scottish Run event. Age is no barrier and it was confirmed this week that Avril Mason took the W40 title at the 1/2 marathon event.

The Kings Park venue was once a regular fixture on the Cross -Country scene with the Ronnie Kane Memorial races and in 1976 it held the Scottish Cross Country Relays.

Record entries were received for the event and the club supported the host club with John Mackay co-convenor, Elaine Mackay, Gary Woods and Raymond Loughran all helping to make sure the event went smoothly.

As was mentioned earlier it was a great day for the ladies – The A team of Aoife Carr (14.33), Hannah Terrance(15.07) and Fionnuala Ross (13.37) ran fantastic to secure the Gold medal – This was the 15th time the Shettleston Ladies have been on the podium- New members, Aofie and Hannah, won district medals for the first time for the club. Avril Mason (Ladies Captain ) has been building a great squad and it showed in the results with the B team 6th and the C team 10th
