National Cross Country Relays

The National Cross Country Relays returned to the iconic venue of Cumbernauld for the 22nd time in the last 24 years, providing a fantastic, challenging autumn experience. While the club has been fortunate to secure medals in recent years, this year proved to be a tough test, with many of our most experienced seniors and masters runners unavailable.

Despite the absences, our teams battled hard across five different age groups:

Senior and Masters Results

  • M40 Age Group: Our best team result came in the M40 category, where the club finished an excellent 4th place, with the B team finishing 19th.
  • Senior Men’s Championship: The men showed strong improvement, moving up one place from last year to finish 8th overall. Jamie Burns delivered a brilliant run, recording one of the top 10 fastest times of the entire day. The B team finished 62nd. We were disappointed to only field four teams on race day after having seven ready last year, but congratulations to David Gillespie on his first run over the country, finishing in a time of 16:44.
  • Senior Women’s Championship: Our ladies, who won silver just last year, finished 11th overall. Brogan Wallace continued her sensational form by recording the fastest time on her leg. Due to a number of drop-outs during the week, we fielded an incomplete B team with solid runs from Hannah Terrance (16:54) and Naomi Browill (19:25). We look forward to getting a full squad out for future championships.

Younger Age Group Results

  • Our young girls finished 21st and the boys finished 37th.
  • Naod Woldeselassie (10:52) and Louis Millican (11:17) both ran the first leg for their respective incomplete teams.
