A busy weekend again saw Shettleston athletes compete in Livingston ,Loughborough, Manchester, Aberdeen, Dunblane and of course the various park runs around the country.

It was also good to pass on the Gold team medals won by the ladies at the recent Scottish 5km championships .Tara Walker received the medals while on a break from her medical duties in Edinburgh Royal Infirmary at our home track on Saturday morning.

Friday night at Livingston was the venue for their highly successful open graded meetings. A number of our younger athletes made the journey along the M8

Moving to Loughborough on Saturday afternoon Teddy Tchoudja was again competing for Scotland in the Loughborough Pathway International. Her throw of 14.23 in the Shot was bit down on her PB of last weekend but she finished 2nd

Saturday night we moved to Manchester for the BMC Grand Prix-World Athletics Challenger. Four athletes made the journey to Manchester, Jamie Burns (Scottish 10000m Champion) ,Lynn McKenna (Scottish 5km Champion) ,Eilidh Bell ( multiple Scottish team medallist and Aoife Carr (Multiple Scottish team medallist) -Athletes who travelled to England were supported by a grant from the Alistair Blamire Fund.

The second match of the Scottish National League took place on Sunday in Aberdeen -a very small group of Shettleston athletes travelled to compete with support from the club .

Some excellent performances were recorded 

Results : Amit Kumar – High Jump  1st 1m96 , Annie Mclean – 2nd 300m 42.38,

Morgan Finlay – Triple Jump 1st 10.53, Long Jump 3rd 4m.30

Lachlan Oates – 1st 3000m – 8.39.03, 3rd 1500m -4.10.90 

Fergus Donnelly continued his recent good form with a 2nd place at the Dunblane 12km 40.52

ParkrunTop 3 for John Duffy, wins for Fergus and Tom over the bank holiday weekend

At Pollok Park Dens Williams finished 6th in a time of 20.03. It is good to see Denis back from recovering from a bad strain at the national 6 stage relays in Livingston earlier this year.

Over to the east coast, Andrew Kirkhope ran a time of 22.46.

At Tollcross Parkrun , John Duffy enjoyed a podium finish, with a third place in a time of 20.06.

Bob Porteous also shows no sign of slowing down with a time of 26.45.

Fergus Donnelly narrowly missed out on a sub 16 min, running 16.03 for first place at Victoria Parkrun.

At Springburn Parkrun, Paul Mcguigan finished in a time of 22.03.

The bank holiday provided Tom Owens another win in sunny Fort William, in a time of 17.06.

At Queens Parkrun, Chris Pantrey ran 18.03 for third place with Fred Davies running a more relaxed 26.38

Finally Melanie Hayes finished the Forfar Parkrun.
