The 2025 outdoor Track and Field season has all but come to an end and last weekend saw one of the traditional season closing events for Shettleston Harriers with the Lanarkshire AAAs Championships at Crownpoint.

It was also a successful weekend on the road at the Podfather Stirling 10k. Jamie Burns, resplendent in the new Shettleston Harriers vest and shorts supplied by Joma Sport, won the men’s race in a time of 30:06 whilst Fionnuala Ross won the women’s event in a time of 33:21 (33:16 chip time). Jamie Furlong took part in the AJ Bell Great North Run from Newcastle upon Tyne to South Shields on Sunday. Jamie completed the half marathon distance in 1:44:42.
And finally Zoe Roberts has ended the season in great form. After winning her heat in the Mile Classic last week with a new club record and setting another last Tuesday in the Adrian Callan Memorial race over 800m, she bettered her own 300m U15G record 42.40 (v 42.56) at the Livingston OGM on Friday. That made three new club records in seven days. Well done Zoe.

It has been a fantastic outdoor season for the club with several of our young athletes setting new Scottish and club records in their age groups, International call ups for U20 and senior athletes, retaining our place in Division 1 of the CSSAL and a good year competing in the Youth Development League. This is not to mention the hard work that the athletes put in week in week out at training which has resulted in some impressive PB performances as the season has gone on.
Training continues, however, with the focus now turning to the cross country season and the first events in the Scottish Athletics Indoor League in a few weeks time.
