Comrie Hills Relay: A Clean Sweep for the Harriers

It was a truly proud day out in the hills for Shettleston, with impressive team and individual performances from all 16 runners. The club achieved a fantastic clean sweep, securing a range of podium spots and individual honours.

This year’s Simon Wake Comrie Hills Relay was a race of firsts, with Shettleston winning the Open race for the first time. We also secured the V40 Open gold🥇, Women silver🥈, and Mixed silver🥈. The future is looking bright with strong performances from the mini Grant Pantreys, including Euan who took the age category win in the junior race.

A special mention goes to Cat Peutherer who was named person of the match for setting a new course record on Leg 2. She took some serious scalps whilst at it! Joe Symonds on Leg 1, Dan Dry on Leg 4, and Jennifer Clark on Leg 4 all recorded the fastest legs for Shettleston.

International & National Honours

Emily Carroll Gains International Vest Emily Carroll became the latest Shettleston Harrier to gain an International vest this weekend, competing as part of the Scottish team in the Welsh capital. We believe this is the 12th athlete this year to achieve this honour across country, road, hills, track, and ultra events – what an achievement by our athletes and coaches!

Emily competed in the Homes Countries International 5km event / UK Championships, finishing 36th in a time of 17.20. She was delighted to gain her first vest, a truly special day for any athlete.

Loch Ness Marathon Preparations & North District Success for Lachlan Oates Closer to home, Lachlan Oates was putting the final touches to his marathon preparations for the Loch Ness Marathon, which is due to take place in just over four weeks. Lachlan, who is currently living up North, qualified to win the North District 5km title due to residence, completing a special double by taking the win in a time of 15.14. After a short rest, he lined up for the 10km event at the festival of running in Kinloss, winning again in a time of 32.49!

The Monument Mile Classic

The Monument Mile Classic in Stirling attracted a few Shettleston athletes who all performed well. Zoe Roberts was the lucky one when she won her heat and got to wear the special yellow cap awarded to heats winners. This event attracted some of the best milers in the world on a fantastic night for athletics in Scotland.

Round the Houses 10km – Grangemouth

John Duffy (M60) took 3rd prize in a time of 41.27 after helping the Masters team in the Comrie Relays pick up a prize on the Saturday.

Hannah Terrance finished 9th lady with a time of 39.15.

East Lothian Sprint Duathlon

Michael Paxton (M40) is making a bit of a name for himself over the summer in this run/bike event, winning again in the East Lothian event.
