On Sunday the club hosted the Scottish 10km Championships in Glasgow Green within the Babcock Shettleston 10km. This involves a major effort from the club with over 50 members helping on the day and months of planning before the event. The event was of the highest standard with Callum Johnson -Gateshead H 29.45 and Natasha Phillips -Dundee HH 32.57 both breaking the course records. Our ladies have been in sparkling form and again they did not disappoint taking the Scottish 10km team title to add to their National Cross, National Road Relays, WD Cross Country Relays and representing GB at the European Clubs Cross Country Championships. The team was Eilidh Bell, Victoria Riddell and Carly Monaghan. Again, we added to the number of ladies who have achieved success with National medals this year. The total now 12! Victoria and Carly claiming their first every medal at National level. The smiles on their faces said everything. Full results of the Shettleston athletes who competed can be found below
The event also featured a fun run for the first time with local schools and club members taking part. The winner of the Scottish Wheelchair Championships was Kyle Brotherton, Red Star AC -Results for all the events can be found at Babcock Shettleston 10k 2023 Results (protay.co.uk)
