Annie, Jonathon and Katie are in Carmarthen Wales this weekend to compete in the SIAB, International match schools event representing the Scottish Schools.
These three club athletes won multiple medals at the Scottish Schools Championships at the start of June and will compete against athletes from England, Wales and Ireland.
Annie MacLean (Glasgow School of Sport) is running in the 300m and 300m relay team. She has run several PB’s in this event and is hoping to run a PB against some very strong opposition.

At training during the week Jonathon Hooper, also from Glasgow School of Sport said he is “buzzing “for the whole trip. He competed in the same schools team last year but this was a home match at Grangemouth track. The 3 day trip with long jump, 200m and relay events is going to be very busy day for him.

Katie Woods (Chryston High school) has made excellent progress this year in her favourite event the 1500m steeplechase. As winner of the Scottish schools she is up against strong opposition in this event but really looking forward to her race.

All 3 athletes’ regularly train at Crownpoint track. Annie and Jonathon with Glasgow School of Sport coaches David Watson and Nikki Manson. Katie is coached by Elaine and John Mackay, and her Dad Gary.
All 3 athletes are part of a Scottish team started their journey on Friday morning at 6am. What an early start!
Good luck to all in the team.
