Lynn McKenna showed she is getting back to the form when she was picked for the UK team for the European Cross Country Championships last December in Brussels .Leading out the large field in the ladies race she become the 2nd Senior lady to win a medal at the Championships along with Fionnuala Ross last year who took bronze. Lynn had a fantastic race with Nancy Scott of Edinburgh at the Scottish Athletics Short Course Cross Country Championships just losing out in the last 300m of the race Another first for the club was a team medal !

Claiming bronze with Aoife Carr finishing 9th ,new member Emily Carroll 13th and Lynn’s sister Charlotte 55th ,an excellent return for the girls .Ladies captain Avril Mason returned to the podium claiming a win the W50 age group previously winning twice in the W40 age group .Avril has also been added to the Scottish team for British Masters International in Belfast in a few weeks time-This makes four athletes now selected -Charlene McCallum ,Avrill Mason ,David Houston and Denis Williams .
It was great turn out for the girls and with still a few missing due to work commitment and the Tinto Hill race a very strong group has been put together.
With many of senior men missing due to injury and other commitments it was a small group of athletes who took part James Wootton was the top finishers .Both Denis Williams and John Oates finishing near the top of their 60 age group .Matthew Fox had a solid run in the U/17 age group -Full results below

Congratulations to Abraham Lanahan who has been selected for the Scottish Schools for the International Pentathlon event
Former members have being doing very well recently in other sports – Nicky Devlin (Aberdeen) gaining his first international cap for the Scotland and we just heard Neah Evans (Cycling) winning the Scottish Sportswomen of the year – Neah was part of our ladies winning West District team in 2012 when she finished 17th before turning to cycling success – Last year she won two silvers at the European track Championships, Gold at the Nations Cup and a silver at the Paris Olympics ! We are sure her Gold from the West District is still high in her achievements .Congratulations to her from everyone at Shettleston Harriers.
