With the holiday season in full swing and school holidays athletes have been taking the chance of a break or competing more!

Congratulations to three of our young athletes who have been selected for the Scottish Schools Track and Field  team to compete in the Schools International in Carmarthen ,Wales on the 20th July -The first step in your international career , congratulations !

On Wednesday three athletes travelled to Grangemouth to compete in the Falkirk Victoria Harriers Open Graded Meeting

100m -Molly Brown U/13 14.63, Arif Chapiti Sen 12.38 PB, Clive Ke Sen 12.82 PB

Closer to home three of our masters athletes compete in the Scottish Masters Club 5km in Clydebank 

results : 3rd Ally Scott 15.52 M40, 22nd Dan Lowe 17.23 M35, 49th Mark McColl 19.31 M45 

To round off his working week Paul Sorrie competed in the 3km on the Green 

result : 10th Paul Sorrie 9.42

Moving to the weekend David Houston travelled home to Ireland  to compete in the Irish Masters Championships and came away with a Silver medal in M35 age group in a time of 4.28 

The big event of the weekend was the British Olympic Trials in Manchester and it was great to see two Shettleston athletes competing in this  showcase event 

Aidan Quinn returned from his USA base to finish 7th in the Triple Jump (15.05) and Teddy Tchoudja was 11th in the Shot (11.92)

The 3rd Scottish National League event took place at Grangemouth  on Sunday with a large turnout for the club .Thank you to our officials, John Coyle, Kevin Slaven and Elaine Mackay, who allow our athletes to compete. It was great to see such a large turnout with a few athletes competing on the track for the first time .

The Scottish hill Running Championships continues and the one of the longest races took place over the weekend, Arrochar Alps.

CJ Macphail finished 2nd lady and helped the ladies team finish 2nd overall 

With Podium places for Iain Pender (2nd M40), Joe Symonds 3rd (M40) and 1,2,3 in the M50 age group  Kenny Richmond (1st M55 ), John Connaghan (1st M50) and Alastair Pringle 3rd – it was a great day for our master athletes.

The top senior was Dan Dry who helped the team to finish 4th

The club would like to express its deepest sympathy to all friends at Central Athletic Club with Ally Hay’ ‘s tragic death in recent weeks  which has been widely reported. He was a giant in Scottish athletics in recent years and the club had the honour with many battles with Ally and his team mates. He will be missed both by his family and all his friends in our sport – Rest In Peace 

Win for Cameron at Crystal Palace Parkrun and Melanie in action in Thurso

There were good results across the park runs this weekend with club members in action across the country from Thurso to Crystal Palace

At Pollok Parkrun, Rowan Lennox finished in a time of 25.28.

Down to London at Crystal Palace, where Cameron Muir ran 17.26 for first position overall.

Back up to the top of Scotland where Melanie Haynes finished the Thurso Parkrun.

At Levengrove Parkrun, Mark McColl coming back from injury, finished 4th in a time of 19.02.

At Elder Parkrun, Callum Oates finished second in a time of 17.08 with Raymond Loughran in a time of 50.52.

Finally at Pavilion Gardens Parkrun Toby Hession finished 11th in a time of 20.10.
