What a week for the club with athletes competing on Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday/Friday/Saturday and Sunday -What happened on Monday !

Young Athletes league -Under 13 and Under 15 Grangemouth
Congratulations to all the young athletes who represented the club in the league on Sunday. For many it was their first time competing and lots of PB performances were achieved. Full results will follow. Many thanks to the parents ,coaches and officials who gave up their Sunday to all these athletes to compete
Saturday
Parkruns
PB for Ronnie, Scott on track, and wins for Michael, Tom and Fred
First off was over to the hilly Pollok Parkrun course where Andrew Shields ran 25.03.
At the Plean Parkrun, Bryony Macleod posted 23.19 for first lady.
Meanwhile at Aviemore Parkrun, John Oates finished in 19th place in a time of 23.08.
Down at the Strathclyde Parkrun, Scott Mckelvie finished in 6th place in a time of 17.40. In the same run Derek Hawkins ran a fast time of 14.39.
At Falkirk Parkrun, local Michael Paxton won in a time of 17.09
Ronnie Strachan had a great run at Tollcross Parkrun taking 3rd in a time of 18.26 which can on occasions be a winning time on the hilly east end course. Not far behind John Duffy crossed the line in 5th place in a time of 19.41 with David Murphy 3rd Shettleston counter in 23.11.
Tom Owens enjoyed another parkrun win at Lyme Parkrun in a time of 18.19.
At Queen’s Parkrun, Bill Breckenridge finished in 11th in a time of 21.18 with Susan Breckenridge in a time of 25.57 for 8th placed lady.
Fred Davies followed Fergus Donnelly’s training style but incorporating the Levengrove Parkrun within his long Sunday run, winning it in a time of 17.24.
Finally at Erskine Parkrun, Carly Monaghan was first lady in a time of 21.25.
Friday – National 5k Championships
The star of the week is young Lynn McKenna who stole the show at the Scottish Championships 5km Road Championships in the second fastest time ever over the Silverknowles course. Her 16.02 also places her 12th in the current UK rankings and was her first Scottish title as a senior .Lynn also led the team to their first win at these championships.What a year the ladies are having . The winning team was Lynn ,Matilda Cornal 11th and Tara Walker 29th winning from Aberdeen and Cambuslang Harriers.Other ladies competing were Holly Morrison31st and Amy MacLellan 44th. What is great is 10 different girls have contributed to the three National titles-National Cross, Road Relays and National 5km we have won this year.
A number of men also made the trip to Edinburgh with the team finishing 11th-Peter Avent 21st, Philip Neilson39th,Sam Lesley119th and Adam Lee 176th. Jamie Burns free from his win in the 10000m finished 11th running his last race for Glasgow University.
Thursday – Babcock Helensburgh 10k
This week saw the start of the Babcock 10km series.The club is a key partner in the series and working with Helensburgh AC and Dumbarton AC we work hard to put on a high quality series.Next Sunday we host our 10km in Glasgow Green ,with this years race being the Scottish 10km championships.Over 700 athletes have already entered and the club is stil loooking for help on the day.
On Thursday evening a number of club athletes made the trip doon the water to Helensburgh.The weather was not kind -cold and very windy.Club President, Elaine Mackay and Club Secetary John Mackay were on hand helping in the organisation of this race which has taken place for 40 years.
The club has had numerous success at this race and this year was no different.Daniel Bradford claimed first place and led the mens team to a win with Marathon men Fred Davis (3rd) and Fergus Donnelly (4th ) .New members Victoria Riddell(3rd) and Carly Monaghan(11th) were also in the prizes -Again showing the strength of our Ladies section! previous winner of the race Paul Sorrie now a master athlete place 3rd in his age group.

Kate Monaghan U/15 was the lone Shettleston athlete at the Grangemouth recording a PB over 1500m
