Jamie Burns continued his American adventure with a trip to Oklahoma to compete at the NCAA Cross Country – Midwest Regional Championships. Jamie sent a picture of the course which looked more like a road race than a cross country event. Pictures can be deceiving as it was very hilly. Finishing 60th in this top rated event shows Jamie is settling well to life Stateside. We look forward to a more detailed account when he returns home for Christmas. He has a trip to Hawaii for Thanksgiving with his team and then his final race is in Boston before his return.
Tollcross Park was the venue for the British and Irish International Cross Country event on Saturday. The club was delighted to donate the use of our two club tents to the event organiser, John Bell. The Welsh and Irish teams both were very grateful for the use of them as team headquarters. Thank you to John Mackay, Elaine Mackay and Gary Woods who organised this on behalf of the club. Gary also officiated at the event gaining more experience as an endurance official. Denis Williams was part of the Scottish team in the M60 age group which finished 4th in the team competition. Congratulations to Denis on his International selection. The club would also like to thank the Scottish Masters Club and John Bell for inviting John and Elaine to the Gala Dinner in the Crowne Plaza after the event.

Club President, Elaine Mackay, made the dash from Tollcross to the Newton 10km /3km event just over the Clyde to run in her 2nd 10km in 20 years. A number of other club members were also on the start line with new member, Ross McMullen, wearing his club vest for the first time, finishing 11th in a time of 34.55. With the route very slippy, this was a great first attempt at the 10km distance. Just behind him in 12th position Jethro Lennox collected the M40 prize. Elaine finished 4th lady in the W50 age group taking 4mins off her 10km time at Dumbarton earlier in the year.

Congratulations to Rowan Lennox who had a very successful few days winning the Pepass cross country event for her primary school (she won the P6 event even although she in P5!) . At the Newton Race she competed in the 3km winning the girls race and placing 3rd overall.
