Lachlan Oates smashed his PB over the ½ marathon distance when winning the Fraserburgh race in 66.22. Fred Davis also claimed a win over ½ marathon distance winning the first new Falkirk 1/2. His time was a PB of around 71 minutes but no official results are out yet. Fergus Donnelly was 5th and we also had Ben Fullerton and new member Gerard Pelegri also competing. Full results will be given as soon as they become available. It was a weekend for ½ marathons with Bryon McLeod (8th female, 2.02.49) Alice Carver (18th female, 2.20.22) and David Murphy (2.12.46)  running in the Peebles Glentress Trail Half Marathon. The new West District league kicked off this weekend at Strathaven with a good turnout of Harriers. Sam Lesley was the first senior man home in 13th place (26.27) and Zoe Barber first female from the club and 6th female overall (30.53) in her first cross country race for the club.

It also doubled as a grudge match against hill running rivals Westies. Full results of the match and bake-off have still to be revealed. Suspicion is we won since no beers were awarded at the end of the day.

Provisional results are available here

Shettleston Harriers were once again at the front of the action across the various parkruns this weekend.
Michael Paxton made it another win at his local Plean Parkrun in a time of 18.06. After many injuries over the years including a spell where he was an amateur car racing driver, it’s great to see Michael running now consistently well on the road and cross country.
Ronnie Strachan almost matched Michael’s efforts nearly catching Cambuslang’s Justin Carter, eventually settling for 2nd place in 19.13
Another Michael of the club , Michael Deason was back in winning form following a season of ultra running. Mike won Victoria parkrun in a quick time of 15.46.
Over to the north of Glasgow at Springburn and Scott Mckelvie finished in 2nd place also in a time of 17.37, 5 seconds behind the winner! Emma Purdie made it 2nd lady over the line in 21.43 and and joe haughey in 22.59.
David Clarkson tackled the tough Queens parkrun in 25.27 followed in the afternoon by the West League XC. Andrew Shields completed the popular Elder parkrun in a time of 28.23. [ed: think this involved some pacing as Andrew’s pb is 23:39]
