For the last 25 years the road relays have been at Livingston and the venue has been a successful venue for the club.
This year it was the turn of our Ladies, yet to shine again, as they put on a demonstration of powerful running winning the title for the first time. What a season they have had – Competing at the European Clubs championships after winning the battle of UK clubs at Liverpool, winning the National Cross -Country title, winning the West District Relay title, podium places at the National Cross Country Relays and the West District Cross Country championships, highest every finish at the National Short course and smashing the Allan Scally Course record. A season to be proud of!
Back to the race at Livingston and Lynn McKenna showed what a great addition to the girl’s team she will be. The young Glasgow University student recorded the fastest short leg of the day winning the first leg and putting Irish Internationalist, Fionnuala Ross, into a commanding position. Fionnuala wasted no time and extended the lead to over 4 mins as she recorded the fastest long leg of the day. She is in great form recording a number of PB performances over a range of distances. With gold medallist team members from the National Cross – Country team win, Holly Morrison and Ruth Joss on leg 3 and 4, the team title was not in doubt with the Ladies breaking the course record.
econd team Aberdeen were over 3minutes behind the Shettleston team. A busy weekend for the ladies saw only two other runners Tara Walker and Charlene McCallum running. Both had excellent runs and it was great to see Charlene back racing

With the girls ending the winter season with a bang it was not the same for the men’s team. One of the most successful teams over the Livingston course in recent years we could not repeat this success with most of the top runners were missing. The club finished 16th in the race ,the lowest finish since 1990. As always, the athletes who competed gave their best. Top performances was from Mark McKelvie who recorded 15.46 when finishing 4th on the first leg. The master’s team (a mixture of M40 and M50) finished 5th
