The GAA Miler meeting in the Emirates kicked off 2023 in style. A number of Shettleston athletes took the opportunity to race over 3000m in a busy programme. Aoife Carr ran 10.25.65 with her club mate Holly Morrison following up her PB over 10km at Telford in December with a PB (10.51.08) over the 3000m distance.
Master athlete Iain Burns (M40) also ran a PB with a time of 9.28.82 to wins his heat and he led home Dan Lowe (9.52.49) who finished 5th in this heat with a PB.

And so it it was over to the hilly Pollok park course where Fred Davies took first place in a time of 17.16.
At Strathclyde Parkrun, Matthew Fox continues his excellent progress with first place in a time of 17.48. Matthew is one of the junior athletes who trains at the club and is great to see the youngsters rewarded for their hard work.
At Tollcross parkrun, Ethan Wilson worked hard for a top 10 place in a time of 22.57. David Murphy finished in 11th place in a time of 23.34.
There was a good turnout at Springburn Parkrun. At the business end, Scott Mckelvie took first place overall in a time of 17.55. Katie Woods who is one our promising female junior athletes, took first female in a time of 19.02 which isn’t far away from her personal best. Her teammate Emma Purdie took second female in a time of 22.02.
Other times were, Adam Clifford 18.55 and Paul Mcguigan 22.21.
At Palacerigg parkrun, John Duffy was within touching distance of first place finishing second in a time of 21.09.
At the new course at Erskine Waterfront, Rowan Lennox finished in a time of 24.51. Jethro Lennox took the course at a more leisurely pace with Olive Lennox in a time of 40.55.
The junior hill running group had a mass entry to the STAG winter score event in Lochwinnoch to practice their navigation. They had to visit as many checkpoints as possible in 60 mins. The dozen youngsters all did well in an event with mainly adults running. A good first orienteering event for many of them and many thanks to STAG and especially Terry O’Brien for hosting the event and welcoming the group.
