SUMMARY:4th Dumyat Junior Hill Races 2025
DESCRIPTION:Shettleston Harriers are hosting a morning of hill races for juniors of any age up to under 17. These races will be held on the slopes of Dumyat at the Western end of the Ochil Hills. They are a great introduction to hill running for younger runners and in the last three years have seen many youngsters take part in their first hill race. For the older age groups these form the first race of the year in the ScottishAthletics hill running league. So whether you want to try out hill running or speed up the hill and earn some points (and prizes) you are welcome to join us. \nGetting there\nApproach roads are narrow\, best from Bridge of Allan via Sheriffmuir Rd. If coming down the A9 from the north you can turn left at Greenloaning and come over the moor. Please note that this car park is on the left when going up Sheriffmuir Road\, and is about 1km beyond the (Forestry) Pendreich Car Park. \nCar Park: https://goo.gl/maps/UrdtHUiq3cGReoxd7 \nPlease car share if possible and arrive in good time. \nRegistration\nEntries open early 2025. Registration open from 10.15am. Entry for each race closes 15mins before the start. \nEntry fee is £5 (under 8s free). Bring cash on the day. \nStart\nAn offroad route will be marked to take you 400m (5mins) from the car park down to the start. \nCourses\n\n11am: Under 9 years old on the day. All runners accompanied please. 1.1km\, 40m climb.\n11.15: U11 (born 2015 – 9 years on the day of event). 2.1km\, 80m climb.\n11.35: U13 (born 2013-2014) and U15 (born 2011-2012) both classes run same course. 3km\, 105m climb\n12.00: U17 (born 2008-2009). 5.2km\, 240m climb\n\nCourse terrain is a mixture of well made-up tourist path\, smaller paths and short sections across the moor which could be muddy and wet. Studs or else trail shoes with a good grip are recommended. Races all start at 185m and are on exposed moorland. Please bring full body cover\, that is: waterproof top & bottom\, hat and gloves. Be prepared to carry them.
