It was a very busy weekend for club athletes which saw a number of excellent performances over indoor track , cross country and road races .

Godwin Imante continues to shine, going 4th in the clubs all time lists over 60m when he recorded 6.99secs at the Scottish National Open event on Saturday. He also recorded the fastest 60m of the day as a first year U/20 athlete. He followed this up with a PB over 200m 22.26. It was a day of PB performances for a number of our athletes full results below:

Sunday saw the action at the Emirates moved to our Under 12 athletes with the Indoor version of the popular Superteams. The Girls A team of Rebecca Jatto, Charlotte Reilly, Islay Reid and Zoe Roberts finished 7th, with the Girls B team of Gabrielle Narey, Amelia McGurn, Olivia Barr and Molly Brown finishing 42nd, the Boys A Team was also 7th with Edanne Gomes, Mitchell McIntosh, Thierry Giraud and Joseph Lanahan, with the Boys B Team of Naod Woldeselassie, Tristan Giraud, Conor Koliadimas with Luke Connor of Law who made up the team. Also Joseph Lanahan was first individual in the boys with Rebecca Jatto, Zoe Roberts and Edanne Gomes who were all in the top 20 individuals. Plenty of PB’s and well done everyone

As the above athletes enjoyed the warmth of the Emirates a number of athletes travelled to Kilmarnock to compete in the 2nd West District Cross Country league .Katie Woods enjoyed the return to Kilmarnock winning her U/15 age group after running well at Perth last weekend. Matthew Fox U/15 also  showed a return to form finishing 7th in his age group. Top senior finishers was Mark Mckelvie who finished 4th

Switching to the roads on Sunday and the West District 10km Championships at the Historic Nigel Barge  (80th Anniversary Race) saw a win for Taha Ghafari (30.47) leading the team of Fed Davis and Fergus Donnelly to take the WD team title. Taha is set to leave for Australia to compete in the World Cross Country Championships early new month as part of the Olympic World Refugee team. This was the reward for an excellent run at the European Cross country Championships just before Christmas.

There was an international feel to the weekend with Fionnula Ross selected to run for Ireland in the CrossCup de Hannut ( Belgium). Fionnula placed 13th in an international field with the race winner Rahel Daniel ( Eritrea) out pacing the field.
