Easter weekend saw a number of club athletes competing over a number of distances
Congratulations to Joseph Lanahan (U13) who broke the Scottish Long Jump record for his age group on Saturday with a leap of 5.60m at the FVH Open Graded. He also followed this up with a 1.50m High Jump and a 8.89m Shot Putt. He is currently ranked number 1 in the UK in the Long Jump and High Jump and in the top 10 in the Shot Putt. Results for Abraham Lanahan – High Jump 1.60m, Long Jump 5.21m, & Shot 9.87 with Molly Brown getting a personal best in the 60m (8.95m) and Long Jump of 3.27m.
Jamie Burns is finishing off his stay in the US in fine style moving to 2nd in the Scottish rankings for 10000 this year with a run of 30:07.64 in the Mike Fanelli Track Classic in Hollywood, Ca USA. Jamie was last years Scottish champion over 10000m last year and Scottish athletics are featuring an interview with him at the moment. Well worth a look.
Closer to home a couple of Shettleston athletes ran in the classic Tom Scott 10 mile Road Race around Strathclyde park on Sunday. Both Max McKee (57.55) and Hannah Terrance (61.54) are both preparing for a marathon later this month. In the supporting 5 mile race Andy Kirkhope (M60) finished 25th overall but first M60 man .
Some of our young athletes have been using the Junior Parkrun at Elder Park to tune up for the track session and we had a 1.2.3 at the event at the weekend

The 17th March saw 5 of our young girls getting the chance to compete at the Emirates Arena in the Glasgow 12’s Fun Day, each athlete did a Long Jump, Shot, 60m, 60m Hurdles and a 200m with plenty of personal bests . Well done everyone
