The Babcock Series kicked off in great style on a damp cold Helensburgh evening. The club is grateful to Babcock /Start fitness, Savage fitness and off course our partner clubs, Helensburgh and Dumbarton, for our involvement in the largest 10km series race in the UK. Over 800 athletes entered the Helensburgh Race with Olympians Weynay Ghebreilassie, Sonia Samuels and GB internationalist Sol Sweeney at the sharp end of the race. The men’s race results was an easy win for Sol Sweeney (30.00mins) with Weyany (30.57) feeling his way back after his fantastic run in Rotterdam a few weeks ago. With support from proud new dad Matthew Turner (3rd 33.08) and Fergus Donnelly(7th 34.12 PB)  the club easily took the team prize. Paul Sorrie finished 9th (34.27) just missing out on M40 prize by a few seconds. It was an night for PB performances with Michael Paxton (12th 35.00) and Scott McKelvie (29th 37.00) getting so close to breaking the 35 &37 minute barrier- Fergus/Michael and Scott showing what training on a regular basis can do for you.

It was also great to see some faces on the racing scene after a long layoff due to the pandemic. Race two is at Dumbarton ( 12th May Thursday evening ) next week and our own race is on Sunday 29th May (Glasgow Green) still time to enter these great races at
