Over the last week Shettleston Harriers’ members have been competing at Antrim , Meadowmill at Tranant and Alexandra Park Sports Hub
At the Antrim Coast 1/2 Marathon Ben Johnson recorded 65:50 behind winner , Mo Farah, in 17th place. In the women’s race Avril Mason finished 12th in 78:12. Well done
Meanwhile at Meadowmill saw another weekend of athletics. On Friday night Carson Graham ran the 110m Hurdles and recorded a season’s best 0f 17.39(-1.8) with the a cold wind coming off the Forth. On Saturday Chloe Fox was in top form in the Javelin with a personal best and a new Under 13 Girls Club record of 18.39m. Jonathan Hooper competing for his school also recorded a personal best in the Javelin of 25.30m
On Sunday saw our Shot Putters out in force, Under 20 Teddy Tchoudja throw 12.68m to record another personal best and put her the 5th in the UK Rankings. Jay McCarthy throw 11.83m with Hannah Struthers finished off her outdoor season with a 8.70m. Matthew Fox competed in the 1500m running 5:23.05.

Tuesday night saw the action come to Alexandra Park Sports Hub with our young athletes competing in the Scottish Athletics Superteams 3, Tuesday saw the 75m and Standing Long Jump. While we are unable to access to any Glasgow Life Athletic Facilities a huge thank you to Milnbank Housing Association and to John Gormlie of the Alexandra Park Sport Hub for their support, without this support we would be able to deliver physical activities that our community needs at this difficult time. Also HUGE THANK YOU to all the volunteers that made the event possible
