Schools Success All Round

School events continue to be the focus for many of our young athletes. South Lanarkshire Schools held their heats during the week, with numerous successes for the club and many athletes qualifying for the finals.

Over the weekend, the Scottish Schools Championships took place in Grangemouth. There were some fantastic performances and five titles picked up by club athletes.

Abraham Lanahan’s Triple Jump win was a massive PB, adding over 60cm to his previous best and moving him to eighth in the club’s all-time rankings.

Zoe Roberts also showed why she is one of the top U16 athletes in Britain at the moment with a commanding victory in the 800m.

Lindsays Summer of Athletic

Moving to Wednesday, four members of the club were invited to a fantastic event organised by long-term sponsors of Scottish Athletics, Lindsays.

“Celebrating a Summer of Athletics” was the theme, with the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow and the European Championships in Birmingham due to take place in what promises to be a busy summer.

The club is delighted that we have athletes and club members involved in both events.

Denise Lewis, Eilidh Doyle and Jack Buckner were interviewed by Ian Beattie, Chair of UK Athletics. All three gave a great insight into their personal journeys to the top of their sport and their hopes for the future.

The club would like to thank Lindsays for this great opportunity.

Glasgow Commonwealth Games 2026 – Kelvingrove Live Site

Shettleston Harriers are going to have a very busy summer, taking a very active role in the upcoming Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

We are delighted to be part of the Kelvingrove Live Site, where Kelvingrove Park will be transformed into a festival-style viewing area throughout the Games. Alongside live coverage of the action, there will be a wide range of sports and activities for young people to come along and try, giving them the chance to have a go at the sports they are watching on the big screens.

Our coaches and volunteers will be on site throughout the event delivering a range of athletics-based activities and helping introduce the next generation to our sport.

If you are planning a visit to the Games, be sure to come along, say hello and give some of our activities a try. We look forward to seeing you there and helping make Glasgow 2026 a memorable summer for athletics and sport across the city.
