Men’s Triple Jump  -Aidan  Quinn 5th  15.45m

Closer to home new member  Ally Scott M40  place 3rd in the Masters 5000m Championships at Grangemouth in a time of 15.41.75, club mate Denis Williams finished 3rd in the M60 age group in a time of 19.21.57. Ladies Captain Avril Mason finished 1st and took the Gold medal in the W45 age group over 500om in a time of 19.10.34 to add to her list of titles. Charlene Manley also scored Gold over 1500m in a time of 4.53.70 winning the W35 title.

Our young Pentathlon athletes were also out in force at the national Championships at Grangemouth over the weekend

100m 11.32 -Gavin Bodrell is competing in the Small Island Games in Guernsey over the weekend and is currently qualified from his heat on Sunday (11.45) for the Semi Final due to take place on Monday -Gavin is representing the Isle of Wight

The sprint group made the trip to the Alva Highland Games and came away with a number of prizes. Godwin Imante took 1st in the 90m Handicap with his Club mate Lucky Fadun in 3rd. It was a good day over the 90m with Cole Kilpatrick also  making the 90m final. Lucky also made the 200m final finish 5th.

The hill runners were also to the fore in the hill race that is part of the Alva highland games with Harry Pulman winning, Dan Dry 9th and Alex Clarkston 12th. Full results here

Further afield it is also good to hear from some of our student members who return home after studying in Glasgow -Clement Eliot spent a successful time in Glasgow before returning home to Normandy to complete his studies. Clement keeps in touch and has returned to Glasgow to visit /compete a number of times. Club member Mark McColl is over visiting him and watch clement finish 15th in a 10km race on Sunday in Pont Audemer (Normandy -France) in a time of 31.54.

Parkrun update

First of all, it was over to the Tollcross Park run, where David Murphy, who is the first club member over the line and seventh position in a time of 22.25.

Bob Porteous who is next in 28th place in 27.08 followed by Gillian McMillan in 35.28.

It was then over to the Victoria Parkrun, where Callum Oates finished in fifth position in a time of 18 minutes, and 11 seconds. Ruth Joss was next in 21.01, Fergus Donnelly in 23.02 and then Andrew shields in 30.51.

At the Drumpellier park run, Paul McGuigan, finished in a time of 22.21.

At the Queens Park run it was all go with six Shettleston harriers turning out on the start line, with a few more running incognito. The hill runners were enticed by coffee and cake at the Breckenridge’s post parkrun.

First over of those who had a barcode was Steve Winter 9th place in 20.53 then Kevin Brydon in 21.12, closely followed by Bill Breckenridge in 21.14. Rodrigo Reis led the remaining three shetts across the finish with a time of 22.12 followed by Jessica Brydon in 22.42 and then Susan Breckenridge in 26.45.

At the Holyrood Park run over in Edinburgh, Grant Aboyne was fourth in a time of 18.15.
