This week has saw Shettleston Harriers’ athletes competing far and wide. This weekend saw the Scottish Athletics 10k Championships at the Podfather 10k at Stirling with Fionnuala Ross winning the title in the Womens’s race with a time of 33.17 taking 23 seconds off her previous best. In the Men’s race saw Seyd Taha Ghafari pick up the silver medal behind Jamie Crowe, with a time of 29.53. In the V50 Women’s event Avril Mason also was a silver medallist.

Carson Graham made the journey to Corby competing for Scottish Veterans against teams from around the UK in the Inter Area Outdoor Track and Field Challenge. Carson recorded a personal best in the Pole Vault (2.60m) and the Hammer (20.12) and season bests in the Long Jump and 400m Hurdles helping the Scottish team to finish 7th . Well done Carson

Closer to home saw the Lanarkshire AAA Track and Field Championships at Crownpoint to finish the 2024 Track and Field. Results are not available at the moment.

Kidane Tadesse and Bob Porteous made the journey to the North East to compete at the AJ Bell Great North Run . Kidane finished 14th running 65.07 in the Elite Race , great run Kidane. Bob ran 2.15.12, well done Bob.

At Peebles Michael Paxton won the Peebles Duathlon, running 17.32 over 4.69k and cycling 19.45k in 33.31

Parkruns1st place for Kenny, David Murphy 4th at Tollcross, Tom gets top spot at Fort William

With various half marathons on and Stirling 10k there was a lower attendance than usual at the parkruns, albeit still some fantastic performances by everyone.

At Palacerigg Parkrun, Kevin Armstrong finished in a time of 28.19. Raymond Loughran ran a similar time over in Elder Parkrun in a time of 29.09.

At the Fort William Parkrun, Tom Owens came 1st in a time of 17.47. The course is actually run entirely on trails and anyone in Fort William who fancies a go can check out the course link below.

At the Elgin Parkrun, John Oates finished 11th in a time of 20.25.

With Ronnie Strachan running the 10k at Strathclyde Park, David Murphy was the first club member over the line in a time 22.06 for 4th place. Joanne Harkins was 8th female in 29.33.

Denis Williams ran 20.01 for 20th position at Strathclyde Parkrun.

Finally at Pollok Parkrun, Kenny Richmond finished 1st place in a time of 18.46
