The track season is now in full swing with the first major competition of the year for a number of our athletes this weekend. Day one of the West District Championships saw a number of medals across a number of

Senior men, Callum Drummond and David Martin took gold over the 800m (1min 55.31) and Long Jump (7m01). This was Callum third year in a row he has taken the 800m title. Matthew Turner took the bronze in the Men’s 800m(1min 56.04)

It was a great day over the 800m with Johnny Burns claiming his first district medal when he finished 3rd in the U/13 800m in a PB time of 2.29.94 and fellow Shettleston member, Lewis Elliott, also took a bronze in the U/17 event running for his school.

The strong tradition of the club in field events continued with Shona Crossan (U/20 Discus 34.94) and Teddy Tchoudja( U/17Shot 12.85m) both taking the Gold. Their team mate Jay McCarthy was also in the medals picking up the silver in U/15 shot (10.64).

In the Senior 100m event, Robert Ferrol finished 5thin his heat with a time of 12.48 (+2.1)

Day 2 of the West District at Kilmarnock saw 11 medals for  club athletes. The 1500m saw Shannon McLellan pick up the Senior Women title in 4.46.24, Matthew Turner picked up his 2nd bronze medal in the Senior 1500m with brother, Gary, finishing 5th. The Under 20 1500m saw Jamie Burns win in 4.08.81 and then Gregor Campbell winning the Under 15 title in the 1500m.

In the field Jay McCarthy was a double gold medal winner, picking up hammer and the discus titles to add to his silver from Saturday in the shot.

Competing for their school Aidan Quinn won the Triple Jump in a Championship Best, Miraji Ahmed also picked up gold in the Triple Jump. There was also medals for the following people in the Triple Jump, Amy Thomson (gold), Morgan Findlay (gold), Neve McGuire (silver) and Cameron Fairgrieves (Silver).

Also competing was Violet Campbell (200m 33.62), Ruaridh Campbell (200m 30.14 and 7th in Final), Erin Ellor ran 5.29.25 in the 1500m with Lewis Elliott also finished 9th in the 1500m
