Another busy weekend for the club saw athletes in Leeds,  Sheffield, Dundee and Glasgow at various championships, International events and of course Park Runs.

Congratulations to Rosa Donaldson who made her International debut, always  a special day for any athlete, in the Home Countries/Celtic International / British Cross Challenge  in Leeds  where she finished 23rd helping the Scotland team finish 2nd  in the team medals.

Masters head east for national cross country

Unlike the main national champs cross country which has a fairly permanent home in Falkirk the masters xc champs still moves around the country. This year Camperdown country park played host to several hundred over 40 year olds doing muddy laps of the park.

10 of our masters made it across to the outskirts of Dundee. Ever present John Oates was our only representative in the first race which featured M65 and above and all the women. In the M40-64 race Joe Symonds was the stand out runner on the day with a 4th place. The initial bid for overall title probably caused him to miss out on a medal but he can have no regrets about giving it his best effort. With Jethro in 21st and the two Iain’s Pender (32nd) and Burns (38th) making the scoring team there were hopes of a team medal but sadly they just missed out with a 4th team placing. Hopefully both of the senior teams can go better and get on the podium in the main national cross country champs in a couple of week’s time.
