In a week dominated by health issues around the country Shettleston athletes made sure they got out to compete throughout the UK.
Ross Gollan travelled to Wales to compete in the British Fell Championships Round 1 with fellow Harriers at the Ra Yr Aran Event and finished 2nd in a high quality field -Further results to follow
Paul Sorrie made the journey to the East to compete in the Edinburgh University 5 mile Road Race and finished 1st over 40 and 4th overall in a time 27.04
In the West Jennifer Martin was 3rd lady in the Balloch to Clydebank 1/2 marathon picking up the bronze medal in the West District Scottish Championships.
Meanwhile the final event in the Young Athletes Winter Season took place in a wind sweeped Greenock. It was a good day for the club picking up an individual bronze medal from Cormac Daly in the U/13 Boys event and a bronze in the team event, with Matthew Fox (22) and Adam Clifford (53) making up the team
The U/13 girls team finished 10th – Katie Woods(35) ,Emma Lepier(38) and Katie Burns(60) with Chloe Fox finishing 68th.
It was great to see full teams in both U/15 events with the girls finishing 4th team – Erin Ellor(25),Iman Djoudi (32) and Jessica Grant (47). The U/15 boys were lead home by Johnny Burns(15) with David woods (20) and Ruairidh Campbell (63) for 8th team
In the Under 17 Men event Theo Carter finished 31st in a time of 18.22
As we finish off the winter season it is important to thank the coaches, team managers and tent carriers ( Thank you Gary Woods for taking the tent to Greenock) who work so hard for your club – We are always looking for help so please help in any way you can !
