Shettleston athletes continue to return to competition in various venues over the weekend.

Chris Bennett finished 4th in a World Class Field at the European Team competition in Poland on Sunday, helping the UK  team to finish 3rd overall.

Our jumpers and throwers have been busy competing at Grangemouth and Pitreavie on Saturday with a number of PB performances. Chloe Fox ( Javelin 16.86m) and Jay McCartney  (Shot 13.82m) both recorded PB’s moving them higher in the Scottish Rankings. Senior athletes, Angus McInroy (Shot 13.70m and Discus 50.06m) and David Little (Hammer 47.57m) both competed, recording first places in their age groups. At Pitreavie, Miraji Ahmed ( Triple Jump 13.75m) finished 2nd with Andrew McFarlane winning the Pole Vault in 4.30m

With Glasgow based athletes unable to travel due to current COVID levels only three athletes were allowed to travel to Grangemouth to compete in the combined league event on Sunday. Two were rewarded with PB performances, Callum Oates (4.23.85) and David Woods (4.30.41) over 1500m. Hannah Lynch competed in the 800m recording a time of 2.45.41.

Thank you to the officials, coaches and parents from the club who travelled to these various venues to allow our athletes to compete. In the coming weeks we have a few events coming up – The Milers Meet, Linwood , 4th June, Combined League Grangemouth 13th June, Superteams National Final Aberdeen 19th June and Young Athletes League Kilmarnock 20th June.
