The Armagh series of races are recognised as the best of their kind in the UK .The local club does a great job and we are privileged to be invited to send teams each year. This event is an international standard event with athletes coming all over Europe and further afield to the event. The club supports our athletes to compete in these events and the 9 athletes who competed did so with distinction.

Jamie Burns, the youngest of our athletes to make the trip, showed a clean pair of heels to all the competitors in the 3km event taking the title in Personal Best of 8.44secs – he first Shettleston Harriers to win an event at these races.

Moving to the International 5km event our trio of athletes all produced PB performances – Lewis Raeburn continues to impress with a time of 14.44, William Bardsley 15.10 and Lucus Cheskin 15.49. All of these boys under 21 years old and the experience of running in such a high level event will help in their development

The ladies team finished 4th over all, just outside the prizes by a mere 15 secs in the 3km event. The Ladies captain, Avril Mason, was first home in a time 10.07 taking 3rd place in W40 Age Group. Like the boy’s PB performances all around for the ladies. Kathryn Pennel 10.19, Ruth Joss 10.25 and Jennifer Martin 10.40 – Excellent performances. Fionnuala Ross returned to her home town to compete for Ireland and finished 15th overall in a time 9.29.

I am sure all the athletes would like to thank Elaine Mackay ( Team Manager) and the club for supporting them to compete at the event.
