The Emirates Arena continued to be the place to be for the main athletics action of the weekend. Saturday saw the Scottish 4 x 200m Relays taking place, The Under 15 Boys were inspired by the British Record ran by Jemma Reekie over the 800m to break the club’s 4 x 200m record by 2 secs and qualified for the final at the Mullar Grand Prix on 15th February with the 3rd fastest time on the day. Lucky Fadun, Maynard Conteh, Cormac Daly and Michael Conteh combined well to run 1.44.41.
The Under 13 Boys A Team of Ashtin Coutts, Matthew Fox, Conor Daly and Callum Thomson got to the Semi Final and just missed out in getting to the final by 0.2sec when running 2.03.20. The B Team of Mark Clifford, Daniel McFall, Lucky Nwankwo and Jay Simpson ran well in their first National Event to record 2.13.25. The U/13 Girls Team of Katie Woods, Emma Leiper, Chloe Orr and Alicja Taborek ran 2.16.37.
Meanwhile in the Combined Event Jonathan Hooper, competing for his school, finished 3rd in Pentathlon , well done Jonathan. Over the day Jonathan competed in the 60m Hurdles, 800m, Shot Putt, High Jump and Long Jump.
On Sunday was the Masters (O/35’s) Championships, Carson Graham had a busy day finishing 4th in 9.67 60m Hurdles, 3rd in 5.63 Long Jump and 4th in 1.50 High Jump. Iain Burns ran 4.30.95 in the 1500m.
Also on Sunday some of our young athletes made the short trip for the Springburn Harriers School Cross Country Races at Kirkintilloch, as yet results are not available but will let you know when we hear how people got on.
At the 3k on the Green Race Paul Sorrie finished 5th
