With the winter season now in full swing, Drumpillier Country Park was this week’s venue for the 2018 version of the Lanarkshire Road Relays. It was great to see many great performances and for a number of our athletes it was their first competition ever, so in particular WELL DONE to them.
First up was the Under 11 girls with the team of Katie Woods, Emma Leiper and Amelia Roberts picking up the silver medal. We have not received the full results yet but the B team of Chloe Fox, Katie Burns and Guin Ofeogbu, the C team of Alicia Taborek, Emily Chatham, Emily McKenzie and the D team of Tia McCormack Clark and Rosie Burns turned in great performances.
Matthew Fox, Daniel McFall and Cormac McGrath continued the medal winning perfomances, picking up the bronze team medal in the Under 11 Boys Race, the B team of Luke Struthers, Kyle McKinlay and Cailean Boyle ran well.
The Under 13 race saw medals for both our girls and boys teams. Everyln Rodgers, Violet Campbell and Jessica Grant finished 2nd with the boys team of Ethan Ofeogbu, Adam Clifford and Ruaridh Campbell picking up the bronze medals. Other teams were B Girls of Beatrice Wainwright, Erin Orr and Chloe Keenan and the B Boys team of Joseph Reilly, Michael Conteh and Stephen Lynch with a C team of Maynard Conteh and Ruaridh Prentrice.
The Under 15 girls team of Erin Ellor, Ellie Thomson and Jenna Dolan were the bronze medal winners in their age group with the Boys Team of David Woods , Rios Dickens and Gregor Campbell getting the silver. Sam Weir running in his first competition ran well in leg1. Gregor performance insured that the trip back home to Campbeltown was a happy one with a medal each for Violet, Ruiaridh and Gregor.
The fast finishing Kasey Fraser ensured that he picked up the bronze medal in the Under 17 Individual race, Theo Carter and Hannah Lynch also ran but no results posted as yet.
In the Senior Race John Duffy ran the first leg.
A big thank you to all the people who helped on the day, Alex Mackay and Gary Woods who were at the venue at 9.30am to get the club tent up and organise the teams. Also a HUGE thank you to Joanna Harkins, Michael Harkins and Alistair Rodgers who help on the day to ensured the smooth running of the event.
It was a quiet week for Shettleston Harriers’ performances at Parkruns with only David Murphy competing at Tollcross were he finished 8th.
Next week sees action at Cumbernauld with the Scottish National Cross Country Relay Championships.
