Shettleston Harriers competed on the international scene this weekend with two Harriers competing at the Loughbrough International.

Miraji Ahmed made his Great Britain debut and finished a great 6th for the GB Junior Team with a distance of 14.25m in the Triple Jump. His club teammate, Mike Deason, finished 9th (9.11.79 SB) in the 3000m Steeplechase running for Scotland .

Meanwhile in Manchester Weyany Ghebresilassie finished  11th (29.45) in the 10km race in an another sub 30 mins clocking 

Our young athletes made the trip down to Kilmarnock for the YDL League Match and Under 17 Challenge Match. There was victory for Elsie Hollywood in the Under 17 1500m winning by 12 seconds. In the Under 15’s Scott Anderson had a busy day with victory in the Hammer, Shot and Discus, and all Personal Bests ! Michael Conteh had a PB with a victory in the 100m (13.06 -3.0w), 1st B Shot, as well as doing the High Jump and anchoring the team in the 4 x 100m. Lucky Eduwu Fadun running in his first open competition won his 300m in an excellent time of 43.16 as well as doing his bit in the 4 x 100m (3rd) and 4 x 300m (2nd). Johnny Burns also recorded a PB to win the 1500m. Other PB and SB’s : Maynard Conteh (PB 200m, Luke Motherwell (PB 200m, PB 80mH ), David Woods (SB 800m), Sophie Gardner (PB 100m, PB 200m), Shannon Monaghan (PB 200m), Hannah Struthers (PB Discus)

The Under 13 saw some excellent performances and a number of PB and SB : Ashtin Coutts (PB 100m, PB Long Jump), Adam Clifford (PB 1500m, PB High Jump), Ethan Ofeogbu (PB High Jump), Luke Struthers (PB Javelin), Erin Orr (PB 75m, PB 1200m), Katie Woods (PB 150m, PB 800m), Chloe Fox (PB 150m, PB Javelin), Emma Leiper (PB 1200m) , Sophie Fuge (PB 70m H), Sophie Hutton (PB 70m H), Violet Campbell (PB Javelin).

Sunday 19th May also saw the Cambuslang H Down by the River 10k which saw a number of club members competing in. First in was Paul Sorrie (8th 34.12), Brian McGarrity (9th 34.18), James Thompson (15th 35.55), David Murphy (51st 42.14).
