A number of Shettleston athletes made the trip south to Liverpool to test themselves against the best of the UK in the British Cross Country Challenge and the Euro Cross Country Trails

Lachlan Oates was selected to run for Scotland in the European Cross Country trials and finished an excellent 25th as his fitness levels return after his recent injury problems. In the senior ladies race Kayleigh Jarrett finished 56th.

The experience of running against runners from throughout the UK cannot be said enough and our young athletes gained fantastic experience in Liverpool. Jamie Burns running in the U/20 race, finished 35th with his younger brother, Johnny, finishing 19th in the U/15 event at his first year in the age group with Jamie also having another year in the U/20 age group. Joining Johnny in the U/15 race was David Woods running his first cross country race outside Scotland where he finished in 74th place, which was a great start.

Two young ladies also made the journey with Erin Ellor 56th and Katie Burns 117th in fields with close to 200 athletes on the start line.
