A glorious evening at Dumbarton saw the 3rd and final race of the Babcock 10 series.

It was another very successful night for the club picking up prizes over a wide range of categories.

Taha Ghafari took first place just missing his club mate ,Tewolde Mengisteab, course record of 29.46. His time of 29.54 was a solo run as he won by over 1 minute from Ryan Thomson of Cambuslang. He led the club to an easy team win with Mark McKelvie (5th 32.20) and Fred Davis (6th 32.25). Mark and Fred both received their Scottish Marathon Team Gold medals for their win at the London Marathon from club secretary, John Mackay, at the race. Weynay, the third member of the London team, is back in full training in Ethiopia as he prepares for his next marathon. Fred also had the good news he has won the male series prize across the Babcock series.

After the great run of team wins the ladies had to settle for second place with Victoria Riddell (5th 39.34) ,Holly Morrison (7th 40.03) and Caryl Monaghan (15th 44.07 -PB )

Women’s Team

The series has provided an excellent opportunity for a number of new members to bond with their fellow members and pick up a number of prizes. The Dumbarton race saw 18 members taking part and it was a nostalgic night for Club President Elaine Mackay who ran in the race 20 years after winning on the Dumbarton course.
