Make sure you catch up on the BBC I-Player to watch a fantastic day for the club at the Great Scottish Run events.

The main event of the day was the 1/2 marathon and Shettleston had two athletes on the International Podium.

First over the line for the club was Olympian athlete, Tsegai Tewedle, who finished 3rd overall. Chris Thomson of England was a surprise winner ahead of Callum Hawkins
and Tsegai in difficult conditions. Tesgai recorded the same time as Callum as both athletes sprinted for the line with Callum getting the nod.

Fionnula again showed her recent excellent form to take 3rd place in the international race behind the Commonwealth Games Gold medallist from Kenya and Charlotte Purdie from England . She again lowered her PB to record a time of 74.26 and move into the top 15 in the UK . Fionnula also was crowned  the Scottish 1/2 marathon Champion.

With Tsegai 2nd in the Scottish Championships, Ben Johnson and Lachlan Oates both recording PB performances in 5th and 6th position and the club easily took the men’s Scottish 1/2 marathon team title.

The Great Run event also features a 10km event and again the club was showcased with Ally McLeod taking 2nd place behind Stuart Gibson of Cambuslang. Ally is moving to Leeds at the end of the month to take up a new job so we wish him all the best .He assured us he will return home to support the club in hill and cross country events.
