The 2018 Christmas Handicap saw a win for David Murphy, who is now in the exclusion club of a double winner of the Patrick Bannon Memorial Trophy. The weather was much better than last year but still the heavy rain and the sleet made the course difficult for the athletes. Late call offs due to illness and the weather saw 18 brave athletes start the race.
Gareth Ellor, running his first handicap, took the John Howieson Trophy for first Master over the line just in front of his daughter, Erin, who went off course. In the true tradition of the handicap Gareth called her back when he had built up a 100m advantage over her.
The fastest lap of the day went to Jamie Burns (U/20) who ran 14.19 in his first attempt round the course. Fastest female of the day was Elise Hollywood who smashed her PB (18.43) and Host for the handicap, Brian Scally, was the fastest Master of the day (16.09).
As always thank you to all our helpers on the day who give up their time to allow this event to take place.
